Process Development Engineer

C&D TECHNOLOGIES, INC. is a publicly held, global, high-tech manufacturer of power storage devices and power supplies. We currently have an opening for a Process Development Engineer II in our corporate office in Blue Bell, PA.

Summary:

Working under the supervision of the Director of New Technology and Senior Engineers in the New Technology Group.  Plans and performs engineering assignments usually associated with research, design or development, manufacturing engineering, or part of a major engineering project.  Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, utilizing knowledge and judgment in making adaptations and modifications. To assure that the technical goals of C&D Technologies are met.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for process and material development activities and projects.  Works directly with Product Development, Manufacturing and Quality to support new product development, scrap reduction and continuous improvement projects. 

  • Implement changes as directed through training, equipment modifications, material changes, etc. 
  • Document and perform tests on processes, products and materials as directed for new products introduction and/or process improvement under the requirements of the NSP System. 
  • Study and document process capability of new and existing equipment and processes, make recommendations for improving capability.  Support production through troubleshooting of processes/equipment that are not meeting requirements and providing technical expertise. 
  • Study and recommend changes to materials and/or processes as directed. 
  • Study existing processes and materials and design new/modified processes and materials as needed for new product development and or process improvement.

Qualifications:

  • BS engineering degree (Chemical, Materials or related field)
  • 1-4 years of experience in process engineering, design and development, quality assurance or related fields.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodology and DOE
  • Mechanical/Equipment knowledge
  • Analytical skills for troubleshooting
  • Technical writing skills, computer skills
  • Quality Principles
  • Up to 25% Travel
