Plant Controller, Reynosa
C&D TECHNOLOGIES, INC. is a publicly held, global, high-tech manufacturer of power storage devices and power supplies. We currently have an opening in our Reynosa, Mexico facility for a Plant Controller for our Power Systems Division which reports directly to the Plant Manger. Must be bi-lingual.
Environment: union, 70 million revenue, 400 employees, 400-600 batteries produced per day.
Position Summary:
We are looking for a financial leader/team player who will be responsible for monthly financial reporting, financial budgeting and forecasting. The qualified candidate will:
- Develops and implements computerized accounting solutions, as required.
- Provide financial leadership, decision support modeling and analysis for plant management to determine strategy and tactical responses to emerging business issues in order to maintain or improve profit target / delivery.
- Close monthly accounting records, including preparing and approving all journal entries.
- Manages the Plant payroll accounts payable and cash disbursement process. Prepares cash flow projections.
- Develop and prepare financial and operational performance measurement and key indicator reports for incorporation into PSD monthly operations package.
- Lead cost avoidance and cost reduction efforts for business unit.
- Lead product costing and inventory valuation using C&D approved cost accounting techniques. Perform analysis of excess & obsolete inventories on a quarterly basis in accordance with established Corporate and PSD practices. Recommends amount of monthly accrual for E&O reserve.
- Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly, & annual sales, orders, and backlog reports for operations.
- Provide analyses of profitability by product line and customer as requested by Plant Manager or Division.
- Coordinate the Plant annual budget process as well as monthly and quarterly revenue and profitability forecasting.
- Be responsible for the custody and safekeeping of company assets.
- Ensure adherence to Corporate accounting standards and policies.
- Be part of a team that re-implements MAPICS
- Responsible for review and revamping of Product Costing and Plant Accounting
- Provides business unit & PSD management with needed financial information, analyses, and recommendations to make important business decisions. Provides leadership on special projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Accounting and 12 plus years of experience in a manufacturing organization in increasing positions of responsibility. Previous plant controllership experience
- Must be bi-lingual
- Cost Accounting experience required
- Use of computerized Enterprise Resource Planning packages is required
- ERP Implementation experience desired/ currently using MAPICS
- Previous success in driving business process re-engineering and organizational change
- Ability to drive business operating results.
- Strong analytical skills Extensive knowledge of personal computers, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
- CPA a plus
- Excellent Communication skills
- Requires a working knowledge of U.S. and Mexican accounting principles and practices, Mexican taxes and tax structures.
- Solid understanding of Mexican financial regulation, import/export regulations and licensure/bonding exposures or requirements.
- Knowledge in Maquilladora licensure and associated regulations, Free Trade Agreement issues as associated with NAFTA.
- Experience in maintaining visibility of, and current fluency with, trends in the Mexican / Free Trade accounting requirements as a result of annual multiple changes that usually occur in the reporting requirements.
- Spanish fluency required
- Commanding knowledge of financial reporting, including budget and forecasting, inventory control, payroll, accounts payable and account receivable.
- Ability to maintain a strong working relationship with plant and Divisional management.
