& Safety Corporate Policy
C&D Technologies, Inc., as an environmentally responsible manufacturer, is committed to the protection of the environment and the health and safety of its employees, customers, and communities in which it does business. It is the policy of C&D Technologies to design, manufacture and distribute products in a manner that will not result in the creation of unacceptable risks to health, safety or the environment. In the execution of this policy C&D will:

Establish and maintain internal operating procedures, controls,
monitoring, and training to promote continued improvement
in performance and compliance with all applicable environmental
and safety laws and regulations relative to its operations
worldwide. |

2. |
Adopt high standards of operational
integrity to minimize the risk of environmental impairment,
and respond quickly and effectively to minimize impact on air
quality, soil, surface water or groundwater, if any incident
should occur. |

3. |
Implement processes to conserve
raw materials and energy and, whenever practicable, recycle
or reduce waste at the source. |
|
|
|
|
4. |
Conscientiously strive to ascertain
from various public and private agencies, customers and trade
associations relevant information concerning C&D's products
and processes and cease any activity when its risks are deemed
unacceptable. |

|
|
|
5. |
To the extent practicable, minimize
and/or eliminate hazardous substance content from our electronic
components. |
|
|
|
|
6. |
Continue to the extent practicable,
to direct sound product life-cycle management by providing information
and collection systems to its customers and sales representatives
to promote the environmentally beneficial recycling and reuse
of its spent products. |

|
|
7. |
Vigorously promote the safety and
health of its employees and education through the enforcement
of strict rules in all its operations. |
|
|
|
|
8. |
Take suppliers' environmental and
safety performance into consideration in its purchasing activities
and require contractors operating on C&D sites to adopt
sound environmental policies. |

|
|
|
9. |
Continuously monitor domestic and
international developments in environmental technology and policy,
and incorporate new standards and technology as appropriate. |

10. |
Actively encourage employees to
communicate potential hazards to management without fear of
retribution. |
This policy applies to all C&D facilities worldwide.
All managers are required to vigorously promote these principles
to all C&D employees. All employees are expected to support
this policy in their activities on behalf of C&D.
