C&D Technologies Opens New Distribution Center in Hildalgo, Texas
BLUE BELL, Pa., Oct 04, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- C&D Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: CHP), announced today that it has shipped its first Motive Power battery from its new Distribution Center (DC) facility in Hidalgo, Texas.
The new facility will serve as a distribution center for products manufactured in C&D's Reynosa, Mexico manufacturing operation. A three phase program is underway to improve responsiveness and further reduce lead times to C&D's customers for both Motive Power and Standby Power products.
"With the rapid expansion of our manufacturing activities in the Reynosa plant over the last several months, relocating the staging and finished goods inventory to the new Hidalgo DC will allow us to respond more quickly to our customer needs for standard product, reducing lead times by an average of three days per order," said D'Arcy O'Neill, Vice President Motive Power Sales. "The second phase will be to implement battery feature and options configuration at the new facility, providing additional flexibility to meet our customer's needs with even faster response times."
Phase three of the project will be to move our msENDUR(TM) system configuration and inventory to the new distribution center later this year. John Kalmuck, Vice President Sales Standby Power Division said, "The strong acceptance and demand for our premier msENDUR telecom product, the true long- life 2V-VRLA battery, has accelerated our plans for developing a logistical support facility to better serve our key telecom customers. This facility will enable C&D to respond quicker and faster to our customers and to crisis situations like those caused by hurricane Katrina."
The new Hidalgo, Texas distribution center is one of the investments C&D Technologies' is making to better support our customers needs for the future.
