C&D Technologies Announces Key Sales Milestone
for Reynosa, Mexico Operations
BLUE BELL, Pa., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- C&D Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: CHP), a leading North American producer and marketer of electrical power storage and conversion systems used in telecommunications, industrial and motive applications, today announced that a new milestone has been reached in sales from its Reynosa, Mexico operations. Over the last twelve months sales from the Reynosa facility have tripled, reaching a record level in September, 2005. Sales from the Reynosa operation are now expected to exceed $35 million by the end of the current fiscal year. The Reynosa, Mexico facility manufactures the msEndur(TM) and MSE 2 volt valve regulated sealed batteries as well the V-Line and the new EM-Line "Easy Maintenance" fork lift batteries for motive applications.
"The response from our customers for the products manufactured at the Reynosa plant has greatly exceeded our expectations. With this foundation now in place, we are taking steps to accommodate further growth while enhancing customer support through the recent completion of a distribution center in Hidalgo, Texas." said Chuck Giesige, C&D's Vice President and General Manager of the Power Systems Division. "Recently, a third North American Wireless Provider has awarded a multi-year contract to supply msEndur systems for their network which will continue to place a strong demand on this facility."
"The increasing sales momentum from our Reynosa operation reflects the tangible benefits of our focus on improved execution in this key facility," said Dr. Jeffrey Graves, President and CEO of C&D Technologies. This milestone is a credit to Chuck Giesige and his new leadership team in Reynosa and we look forward to continued growth acceleration through 2006 and beyond. We believe that our Reynosa operation is on track to become the most modern and cost effective battery manufacturing facility in North America."
