C&D Technologies Names Leonard P. Kiely Vice President and General Manager, Power Systems Division

BLUE BELL, Pa., May 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- C&D Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: CHP), a leading global producer and marketer of electrical power storage and conversion products used in telecommunications and industrial applications, today announced that Mr. Leonard P. Kiely has been named Vice President and General Manager, Power Systems Division, effective Monday, June 5, 2006.

Mr. Kiely joins C&D from Precision Castparts Corp. (NYSE: PCP), a global, diversified manufacturer of complex metal components and products serving the aerospace, power generation, automotive and general industrial markets, where he served most recently as the Vice President, Business Development. Prior to his current role, he served as President of the Precision Tool Group with Precision Castparts.

Mr. Kiely previously served for over eight years with SPS Technologies ("SPS"), prior to its acquisition by Precision Castparts. SPS is a leading manufacturer of engineered fasteners, metal components and assemblies. Mr. Kiely held several positions of increasing responsibility at SPS, including President of its Unbrako and Precision Tool Businesses.
